Accessibility

Anchorage is
for everybody.

Mr Anchorage wants its stories, newsletter, merchandise, and business information to be usable by people with disabilities and across a wide range of devices and assistive technologies.

Our approach

We aim to use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as a practical benchmark while continuously improving the site. Accessibility is an ongoing process, especially as content and third-party services change.

Current accessibility practices

The site is designed with semantic headings, descriptive page titles, keyboard-accessible navigation, visible focus behavior, text alternatives for meaningful images, labeled forms, readable contrast, responsive layouts, and status messages that can be announced by assistive technology.

All original Mr Anchorage videos published online include subtitles burned directly into the video image. This keeps the spoken words visible even when a platform's optional caption controls are unavailable or turned off. We recognize that burned-in subtitles do not meet every accessibility need, so viewers may still request a reasonable alternative format.

Third-party services

Some experiences (including the Beehiiv newsletter archive and signup process, Fourthwall storefront and checkout, Stripe payment pages, embedded media, and social platforms) are operated by third parties. We cannot control every aspect of those services, but we want to help you reach the same information or service through a reasonable alternative when possible.

Request help or report a barrier

If something is difficult to see, hear, navigate, understand, or operate, email mranchorageak@gmail.com. Please include the page or feature, what you were trying to do, the barrier you encountered, and any assistive technology or browser information you are comfortable sharing.

We will review accessibility messages and respond as promptly as reasonably possible. You may also request information in a reasonable alternative format.
