Who is Mr Anchorage?

The bear is
the mascot.
I'm the voice.

I'm Andres Gonzalez, the creator and storyteller behind Mr Anchorage. What began as a faceless local character became something more personal when people connected with my narration, perspective, and the way I tell Anchorage stories.

How it started

Faceless
was the plan.

Months ago, I imagined Mr Anchorage as an anonymous insider: part neighborhood know-it-all, part weekend planner, and part unofficial Anchorage hype-man. The bear in sunglasses could say what needed to be said while I stayed behind the scenes.

But audiences responded most strongly when I narrated the stories myself. The personality was not something I could separate from the project, and that turned out to be a strength. Mr Anchorage still has a mascot, a sense of humor, and a point of view. It also has a real person behind it.

The mission

Help people
love this place.

01

Make Anchorage easier to enjoy

Surface the events, food, history, places, and small discoveries that make a weekend (or an ordinary day) better.

02

Tell useful local stories

Create work that feels specific to the people who live here: informed, entertaining, honest, and never generic tourism copy.

03

Support worthwhile local businesses

Give Anchorage businesses a thoughtful way to reach local audiences without making the content feel like a commercial.

04

Build something that lasts

Grow Mr Anchorage into an independent local business that serves the community, supports creative work, and helps me provide for my family.

What hasn't changed

Anchorage isn't perfect.
But it's home.

Expect useful weekend picks, local history, strong opinions, practical guides, neighborhood discoveries, and the occasional moose cameo. Mr Anchorage is still here to share the quirks, poke fun at the weird parts, and remind people why this city is worth loving, even when the windshield is iced from the inside.
