  • Location: Arctic Rec Center, 4855 Arctic Blvd

  • What’s special: Hosted by the Bering Straits Native Corporation, this one‑day event invites Alaska Native shareholder and descendant artists to display and sell handmade art, crafts and jewelry. It’s a rare opportunity to meet artists and purchase authentic pieces directly from the creators.

  • Why go: In addition to supporting local artists, the celebration offers cultural immersion through traditional crafts and storytelling. The event happens only once a year and is free to attend.

Handmade Holiday Craft Fair

  • Date & Time: Saturday Nov 15, 10 AM – 4 PM

  • Location: Hope Lesko Discovery Center, 650 W International Airport Rd

  • What’s special: Hope Community Resources’ 4th annual craft fair marks the start of the holiday season. Nearly 50 local vendors offer handmade jewelry, knitted goods, home décor and seasonal treats. The first 40 shoppers receive a free tote bag.

  • Why go: This family‑friendly market is ideal for finding unique gifts while supporting artisans who create everything by hand. The lively atmosphere encourages browsing, mingling and enjoying Anchorage’s local community.

Taste the Talent Fundraiser

  1. Date & Time: Saturday Nov 15, 7 – 9 PM

  2. Location: 49th State Brewing Company, 717 W 3rd Ave

  3. What’s special: Alaska Hospitality Retailers’ Taste the Talent presents a culinary showcase where rising student chefs from King Tech’s Culinary Arts program craft inventive dishes. The evening includes delicious bites, a live auction and a chance to meet future culinary stars.

  4. Why go: Proceeds provide scholarships so local students can continue their culinary education at University of Alaska campuses. It’s a meaningful way to enjoy great food and support the next generation of Alaska’s hospitality talent.

Dog Yard Fest

  • Dates: Nov 14–15 (Friday & Saturday)

  • Location: Information available via Eventbrite (Dog Yard Records)

  • What’s special: Dog Yard Records’ sometimes‑annual indie music festival returns with an eclectic lineup of local and international acts. Friday night features bands like Diles Que No Me Maten, Lilac, Turbo Hell and Evil Wizard, while Saturday’s schedule adds Pillar of Autumn, The Jephries, Fear Boner, Vital and Circle of Salt.

  • Why go: It’s one of the few opportunities to see underground bands from Mexico and Japan alongside Anchorage favorites in an intimate setting. Tickets start around $33 and the festival spans just two days, making it a must‑see for music lovers.

Anchorage Civic Orchestra Season Opener
